Meet Matt and Mel and their gorgeous 8 week old baby, Kai.
Kai was born right about the time we all had to stay at home due to Covid-19. This meant postponing his newborn session until I was able to re-open my studio. While Kai was 8 weeks old by this time, he was still so tiny.
During their newborn session Mel and Matt shared their journey with me and I must admit I shed a tear. The absolute strength it took for them to get through these tough times, to keep going and to finally be able to hold their beautiful boy in their arms is truly amazing.
Mel had asked if she could bring along some items that represent their IVF journey to include in Kai's images.
Kai's Mum Mel
"Infertility is not only physical, it’s mental as well. 1 in 8 have to deal with this. It’s hard to have hope and keep trying and the strength behind the families that do it is incredible. It is not for the weak. Although we always seemed happy, this was the hardest time of our life. The surgeries, procedures and cycles brought a little bit of hope and everyday it took so much to try and stay positive not only for myself, but for my husband as well. This can be such a lonely battle. Behind closed doors there are so many families suffering. We have seen this more after sharing our journey and how many people have reached out to us. Keep going. No matter how stuck you feel. No matter how bad things are right now. No matter how hopeless and depressed you feel. No matter how many days or years you’ve spent wishing things were different. I promise you won’t feel this way forever. It’s been the most rewarding joyful time in our life and if you knew the feeling you have once your little miracle arrives you would keep going. During Kai's photo shoot I couldn’t help not shedding a tear. Matty took one look at me and come over and just cuddled me as we watched Jo capture our perfect little miracle. The day had finally come that had waited so long for. Jo took it in her stride to capture our infertility journey and that’s something we will be forever grateful for. The photos are just so amazing we can’t Thank You enough."
Congratulations Matt and Mel on the arrival on little Kai! Thank you so much for choosing me to be your photographer and capture these precious memories for you. xx
